Lin Yinnian (Francis Lee), after many years of service, is still a low-ranking police officer. Approaching forty, the age for mandatory retirement, he feels restless and wants to "make a comeback." Coincidentally, Lin's nephew, Buffalo (Allan Li) arrives from the U.S. for a vacation in Hong Kong, and Lin agrees to his sister’s request to find a wife for his nephew.
On the day set for "inspection" (to meet potential matches), Buffalo encounters again Simone, whom he had met at a bar upon his arrival in Hong Kong. Simone seeks his help, claiming she is being pursued by killers who witnessed her seeing a murder. With his usual straightforward and stubborn personality, Buffalo drags his policeman uncle Lin Yinnian to investigate Simone's claims and search the yacht where the incident took place.
This action inadvertently draws Lin, Simone, and Buffalo into a major arms smuggling case. Since Simone has seen the killer's face, the killer decides to eliminate her as a witness…
