Story Plot
Jamal Malik (played by Dev Patel), a young man from the streets of Mumbai, is currently being interrogated and tortured by the Indian police. The reason? Jamal participated in an Indian version of the live TV show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." However, just before he faced the final question, someone accused him of cheating. Jamal, of course, denied it outright. As he explained how he was able to perfectly answer each question, the story of his life unfolded before our eyes. He spoke about meeting a Bollywood star, the death of his mother during a robbery, and how he and his brother Salim met Latika (played by Freida Pinto), the love of his life.
