The 3D animated film *Monsters vs. Aliens*, which just won the box office championship in North America last weekend, will be released nationwide starting today. A press screening was held on the 29th at Beijing's Stellar International Cinema, and even the journalists who have seen countless films were surprised by its dazzling 3D effects.
DreamWorks' sole major effort this year, utilizing brand new 3D technology
*Monsters vs. Aliens* is DreamWorks Animation's only animated work this year and also its first important foray into the 3D market. Jeffrey Katzenberg, President of DreamWorks Animation, has always been hopeful about the prospects of 3D films, so naturally, DreamWorks spared no effort in the production and promotion of this film. In terms of animation production, DreamWorks collaborated with Intel to develop a new Intru 3D technology, allowing animators to create directly in a 3D environment, resulting in imagery that is more vivid, three-dimensional, and realistic. In terms of movie promotion, DreamWorks partnered with PepsiCo and invested heavily during this year's Super Bowl, unprecedentedly distributing 150 million pairs of yellow-blue 3D glasses for free, so that potential audiences could watch the 3D trailer of *Monsters vs. Aliens* on their home televisions.
