Yan Chongnian, president of Beijing Manchu Association and one of the main speakers of百家讲t坛, was slapped by a young man when he was signing books in Wuxi Xinhua Bookstore on October 5. He was not only slapped but also scolded as "traitor". After the incident, netizens debated heatedly online. Many people expressed their dissatisfaction with the behavior of the young man who used violence to express his academic view, and criticized that it was wrong to beat an old man. Some people thought that this incident was understandable for the reason that Yan Chongnian's quotations which suppress Han nationality and advocate Manchu were reversing black and white.
