Science? Superstition? Carelessness? Neglect? Can only the cost in blood draw attention? - The Underclass

Maybe due to "believe in science, eliminate superstition", or years of safety made us lose our sense of prevention, nature reminded and warned us again and again, but we completely lost the ability to understand. We may overly depend on technology. All kinds of natural signs before a major earthquake were very likely reminding us, but they were neglected because of our carelessness. Ancient experiences tell us that there will be some precursors before an earthquake, such as abnormal animal behavior, abnormal groundwater, abnormal weather changes, etc. These experiences have been widely recognized and written into textbooks. Then, when these strange phenomena of nature happen, why can't people engaged in earthquake prediction be more alert?
