The greatness of Nat King Cole also lies in the fact that he was not only a jazz musician, but he had created several different types of music including jazz, country and rock throughout his life. In the year 2000, Nat King Cole was selected as a jazz singer to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Nat King Cole, born in Montgomery in 1917 and grew up in Chicago. He started playing the piano and singing at church at the age of 12, and in 1963 began collaborating with others to form his own wildly popular jazz trio.
