Hong Kong female artiste Shen Dianxia passed away in the hospital at the age of sixty-one.
Shen Dianxia, who suffered from cholangitis, was hospitalized for fifty days in Queen Mary Hospital due to complications after a bile duct surgery in September of the year before last. Last year, she once fell into a coma and was sent to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment.
Shen Dianxia was born in Shanghai in 1947 and then moved to Hong Kong. At the age of thirteen, she participated in the movie "A Tree with a Thousand Red Flowers," beginning her more than forty-year entertainment career. She once formed the "Four Golden Flowers" with artiste Wong Man Ching and others, and also formed a "lovers' duet group" with the late singer Luo Wen. The program she hosted, "Happy Tonight," is what she is most known for. Due to her full-figured body, she was called "Fatty," and also known as the clown of the entertainment circle. Her trademark laugh, owl-like hairstyle, and glasses are her marks.
The female artiste "Fatty" Shen Dianxia married Zheng Shaqiu in the 1980s, but divorced a few years later. They have one daughter, Zheng Xinyi.
