According to reports by Changsha media at 9:00 PM on March 25, the Wanglu Garden police station in Changsha city conducted a routine security check of the area under its jurisdiction. The policemen found that someone was taking drugs in a room on the 3rd floor of a chain hotel, and they then proceeded to investigate all individuals in the room. Meanwhile, another group of policemen unexpectedly discovered at the front desk of the hotel that one suspect had registered for another room next to the one in which he had been present. When the policemen entered this room with the help of a server, they found a person lying on the bed smoking. The policemen felt that they had seen the man before. After checking his identity, it was confirmed that the man was Xie Dong, a singer who had previously been exposed by the media for drug use. The policemen also confiscated approximately 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine from his body (which was later determined by technical appraisal from public security criminal investigation department to be less than ten grams). In the early hours of the following morning, the police decided to impose 15 days of administrative detention on Xie Dong.
