Director talks about taking Xia Yu to bed, publicly says female actor is flirtatious

The other day, the comedic feature film "Rock-Scissors-Paper" held an unconventional poster unveiling party in Beijing. The actors Xia Yu and Tang Yan, as well as director Wang Guangli, were present to drum up attention for the movie. In the face of fierce competition during the New Year's season, director Wang Guangli, who is usually low-key, also resorted to some炒作 (hype) tactics. At the event, he made bold statements to attract media attention. For instance, he criticized Jiang Wen's "The Sun Also Rises," calling it absurd and incomprehensible. Clearly, Xia Yu, who was standing on stage, did not agree with the director’s comments and appeared somewhat embarrassed, given that Jiang Wen had been a mentor to him.

In terms of the movie's own selling points, the comedic elements in "Rock-Scissors-Paper" along with the participation of two renowned actors, Zeng Zhidong and Xia Yu, would be enough for the director to talk about. However, Director Wang Guangli seemed uninterested in these aspects and thought that these promotional points were not explosive enough. At the event, he even interrupted the host to shift the focus onto the bed scene between Xia Yu and Tang Yan. He voluntarily brought up the bed scene and created suspense around it, which many found vulgar.

Furthermore, during the on-site interview, the director described actress Tang Yan as seductive and sexy in front of numerous media cameras, which left many people surprised. With so many big films being released during the 2008 New Year season, Director Wang Guangli openly admitted the immense pressure. However, resorting to such methods to promote his film truly seems vulgar.
