About Jet Li:
Born in 1963, he began his martial arts career at the age of 9. At 11, he won the Chinese Martial Arts Championship and traveled globally with the Beijing Wushu Team, representing China, even performing at the White House for then President Richard Nixon. At 15, he won the Chinese Martial Arts Championship for the fifth time, setting a record of five consecutive championships.
At 16, he decided to retire from competitive martial arts and was discovered by a talent scout in the film industry. His first movie was "The Shaolin Temple" directed by Chang Xin Yan in 1979. In China, where a movie ticket cost only 1 jiao (0.1 yuan) at the time, the film achieved a box office miracle of 100 million yuan.
In the following years, he starred in more than twenty kung fu films in Hong Kong and mainland China. Among his most memorable works are the "Yellow Fly Hung" series directed by Tsui Hark in 1991, the "Fong Sai Yuk" series and "Tai Chi Master" in 1993. In 1995, he starred in "Fearless", a tribute to Bruce Lee. Besides his martial arts skills, his acting has also become increasingly refined, as evidenced by his performances in "The Bodyguard From Beijing" in 1994 and "Letter To Dad" in 1995.
In 1998, he bravely ventured into Hollywood as a newcomer and successfully collaborated with Mel Gibson on "Lethal Weapon 4", marking another success and stepping onto the international stage.
