Jay Chou, 24 years old, was raised in a single-parent family in Taipei City. His mother was a high school teacher who divorced his father when Jay was young. Because of this, his mother placed all her hopes on him.
When Jay was three years old, his mother noticed his talent for music and without hesitation used all the family's savings to buy him a piano. Thus, Jay's childhood was deprived of playtime, spending all his days by the piano. However, every time he practiced, upon hearing the playful sounds of his peers outside the window, he would always lose focus. Consequently, his mother would stand behind him with a stick, supervising him until he finished practicing.
