Mr. Zhang Wenshun, one of the founders of Beijing's德 Yun She and a renowned master of crosstalk art, passed away at 5:25 AM yesterday due to esophageal cancer at the age of 71. Yesterday, De Yun She posted an announcement deciding to suspend performances for a week in memory of Mr. Zhang Wenshun, and the entire page of the official website of De Yun She was also changed to black. On the 22nd, Mr. Zhang Wenshun's farewell ceremony will be held at Baboshan in Beijing.
Yesterday morning, Guo Degang and others arranged a memorial hall for Zhang Wenshun inside De Yun She. Guo Degang stated that Mr. Zhang had been ill for many years, and before his passing, a special performance was held in his honor. He also accepted disciples, including Zhang Dewu and his godson Gao Feng. His grandson is currently at De Yun She, being the last member of the "Yun" generation. In the past five months, Zhang Wenshun had spent all his time in the hospital, relying on a ventilator to sustain life.
