Li Wei, the first Chinese performance artist, was born in Hubei Province, China on September 5, 1970. He studied oil painting at the Beijing Oriental Academy of Arts and Culture in 1993 and currently resides in Beijing. The first time I saw Li Wei's works, I was shocked and attracted by these vivid pictures. Unlike many people, I didn't question their authenticity first. Uncovering concealed truths is a typically Chinese behavior. In today’s society, there is no direct expression between people; everything is non-frank, implied, reflected, and always unclear. Li Wei has precisely broken through all these so-called glories and constraints.
