Oceanic whitetip shark, The Bahamas, 2007

Thirty years ago, the oceanic whitetip shark was one of the most common sharks. Sadly, man's relentless pursuit of the prized delicacy that is shark fin has driven it to the brink of extinction. Thankfully, the Bahamas' ban on the export of this species and commercial long-lining (a fishing technique) has made these blue waters a true shark refuge.
