Artist Binh Danh observed for an entire summer and found that the pigments of leaves under water pipes and glass were significantly different from those directly exposed to sunlight. He then began to try combining photography with photosynthesis and came up with what he called "Chlorophyll Prints": printing (exposing) photographs on leaves. He placed the negatives and leaves under the sun, and after a few days, the sunlight completed the "development" process on the leaves. Finally, he encapsulated them with rosin resin.
