The Beggar Doctor: New York's Most Famous and Trendy Homeless Man
Chris has lived in New York for decades, so much so that he can no longer remember where his hometown is or when he started wandering in New York. His daily life consists of collapsing to sleep at the corner of Mercer Street at night, and strolling around the Manhattan area during the day. The perpetually fashionable New Yorkers and omnipresent high-end fashion department stores provide him with plenty of fashion elements. He always manages to find discarded clothes of considerable value and jewelry, as well as branded paper bags people have thrown away. Chris uses his understanding of fashion to mix and match these items, creating a unique style that often draws curious glances from passersby on the street. New York's fashion photographers Julia Josky and Alison Lee discovered him, took a series of portraits for him, and published them in the photography magazine "Original Hipsters." As a result, Chris became instantly famous, becoming New York's most famous and trendy homeless man.
