The Longji (Dragon's Backbone) is located in the southwest section of the Mao'er Mountain Range in the northeast of Pazhen Town, Longsheng County. It is so named because the mountain range resembles the spine of a dragon. On the left side of the mountain range flows the Sang River, while on the right are terraced fields carved out by the ancestors of the Zhuang and Yao peoples, which have been called the Longji Terraces by later generations. They mainly belong to two ancient villages - Ping'an Village and Dazhai Village. The terraces beside Ping'an Village are called Longji Terraces and belong to the Zhuang people; those in Dazhai are called Jinpit Terraces and belong to the Red Yao people.
