To truly learn photography, one must indeed invest a great deal of effort in research. Spending the time can be worthwhile if you receive praise and recognition from family and friends around you. Knowing how to take good group photos can indeed make your pictures more popular with friends and family, earning you more LIKES on Facebook!
Photographer Rishabh Agarwal has proposed 5 tips for taking better group photos:
1. Break the rules
Most group photos are repetitive and lack creativity because photographers stick to the same old rules, making people stand like statues in front of the camera and counting to three before pressing the shutter. The secret to taking surprising group photos is breaking these rules. We all have unlimited creativity inside us, so use it well! Dare to break conventions. The results may surprise you!
2. Timing is key
The right timing for taking a photo is absolutely essential for a great picture. When we talk about timing, it’s not just about the best time of day to shoot but also about when to press the shutter. A well-timed candid shot often requires far less time than repeatedly shooting in pursuit of the "perfect frame."
3. Light, always light
For photography, light means everything. In fact, light is the ultimate factor in photography. Any excellent photo is determined by skillful control of light, which is exactly the skill that many photographers lack. Here are some small tips for effectively using light: Image credit.
PS: Haven't I said "light is everything"? And I also mentioned "breaking the rules." Look at this photo: isn’t it a perfect creation of light and shadow?
4. Backgrounds matter
In photography, the background is as important as the subject. Photos taken in settings that fit the theme are much better than those taken in closed rooms. Although opinions vary, changing the background often leads to good photos. Get your family or friends outdoors and try shooting in fields or other open spaces you can utilize instead of being confined indoors or in a studio. This way, you can also benefit from natural light.
5. Don’t just stand on the ground
The shooting angle can give a photo an advantage over thousands of others. Want to take a unique photo? Then don’t just stand on the ground. I’m not asking you to defy gravity, but simply suggesting you change your shooting angle. You could shoot your friends standing on the first floor from the second floor. Or, you could kneel down and shoot straight up! Use your imagination rather than just standing on the ground. Image credit. Examples of excellent group photos
