Guizhentang, a pharmaceutical company from Fujian that practices bile extraction from living bears, has sent out invitations announcing the opening of its bear breeding base to the public. In response, the animal protection organization It Foundation raised doubts yesterday, stating that "it is impossible to trust in the authenticity of a visit that is organized, arranged, and restricted."
On February 1st, the CSRC announced a list of companies waiting for IPO, with Guizhentang included among them. Afterwards, opposition voices arose one after another. Some people proposed that they hope to be invited to visit the company's bear farm to prove with facts whether the bears are truly happy after bile extraction.
