A person without heart, without love, without compassion, and without respect and filial piety.
A person without virtue, without the virtue of cherishing life, without the virtue of saving the world, and without thinking of accumulating virtues.
This person is attached, lazy, selfish, lustful, and liar.
What use is such a person to the world? I often think that it would be better to end it all than to harm others this way.
The great evil and great goodness in this world are all due to accumulation. Among the billions of people alive today and even more who have passed away, each person has both evil and good thoughts, countless as the dust on the ground or the sand by the sea. When evil accumulates excessively, great evil will surely descend upon the world; when goodness accumulates abundantly, great kindness will surely descend upon the world.
Similarly, the human heart is a small universe, a miniature world.
When evil accumulates excessively, great evil will surely descend upon an individual; when goodness accumulates abundantly, great kindness will surely descend upon an individual.
