Jean-Louis Dumas (1938-2011) was the fourth of six children of Robert and Jacqueline Dumas (the fourth generation inheritor of Hermes), studied political science when he was young, served as a drummer in an amateur jazz band, and traveled throughout Europe and Asia. After getting married in 1962, he had two sons. He succeeded to his father's business in 1978 and achieved success until his retirement in 2005. During these years, he was always passionate about photography.
