1950: The French professional outdoor brand Millet (Mile) began its legendary mountaineering experience. During a French expedition's climb of the 8,091-meter ANNEPUNA (Annapurna), the Frenchman Louis Lachenal successfully summited with the world's first-ever Millet mountaineering backpack. This was the first successful summit of an 8,000-meter-plus peak in human history. He appeared at the summit celebration ceremony on the roof of the world with this backpack.
