addafi, born in September 1942, leader of the Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. Full name Muammar Gaddafi. Born in a nomadic family near Sirt, south of Sabha, the capital of Fezzan province, he belongs to the Berber Kazzaf tribe. He is a devout Muslim. On August 22, 2011, Libyan opposition forces entered Tripoli and declared that they had seized control of some key departments. They are currently clearing out the remaining forces loyal to Gaddafi within the city and conducting a city-wide manhunt for Gaddafi.
