He served as a bridge in pictorial photography and was unparalleled in history; he was also the founding father of fashion photography, acting as the chief photographer for the top two magazines, making celebrities flock to him; during the two World Wars, he was the commander of the military photography team; his first documentary won an Oscar; and for decades after his death, his works have been highly valued in the auction market.
