1. The dog ate the paintings and calligraphy.
In the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, there was a smart man named Bi Ai in Bifeng, Lanxi, Zhejiang, who often went against the landlords.
One day, while the rich man Zhou Daosheng was talking ill of Bi Ai in a teahouse, Bi Ai happened to pass by and went in, saying: "Today I encountered something strange."
Zhou Daosheng quickly asked: "Brother Bi, what's the strange thing?"
Bi Ai said: "A dog from my neighbor has been stealing and eating paintings and calligraphy recently. Today, my neighbor took out all the collected paintings and calligraphy to air them, but they were all eaten by the dog. The owner killed the dog and cut open its stomach. Guess what was inside? Ha, a stomach full of bad paintings (words)."
The tea drinkers realized that Bi Ai was mocking Zhou Daosheng, and burst into laughter.
