The name and logo of Canon have gone through several transformations before becoming what we see today. Did you know that its first logo in 1934 featured a depiction of the Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara (Kwanon) accompanied by the unique font of "Kwanon" (Guanyin)? In fact, "Kwanon" was the first Leica仿-type rangefinder camera with a focal-plane shutter, produced by Seiki Kogaku Kenkyujo (Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory), the predecessor of Canon, marking Canon's pioneering work. It wasn't until 1935 that it was officially renamed to CANON, undergoing several changes and gradual improvements to become the logo we see today.
