The grand ceremony of the relic of Sakymuni's cranial bone was held at Qixia Temple in Nanjing on the morning of April 12. The world's only true relic of Sakyamuni's cranial bone reappeared before the public after a thousand years.
At 8:00 am on April 12, the golden coffin and silver sarcophagus housing the relic of Buddha's cranial bone was welcomed from Nanjing Museum to Qixia Temple. At about 9:00 am, under the witness of 108 eminent monks from home and abroad, Master Chuan Yin, President of the Buddhist Association of China, etc., respectfully took out the relic of Buddha's cranial bone from a set of golden coffin and silver sarcophagus and enshrined it on two specially-made seven-layered Phoebe nanmu carved golden lotus Sumeru seats; they also took out ten pieces of induced relics and other holy relics from another set of golden coffin and silver sarcophagus.
