In 1875, after the establishment of the French Third Republic, it was decided to hold a world-renowned international exposition in Paris in 1889 to grandly commemorate the 100th anniversary of the French bourgeois revolution in 1789. One of the important projects was to build a thousand-foot high tower in Paris. For this purpose, 700 architectural proposals were submitted at once. After being reviewed by Minister Locklou and other officials, 18 proposals were selected for strict re-examination, and finally only one feasible proposal was determined, which was the design proposal of the construction engineer Gustave Eiffel.
