1. Repay grievances with virtue.
Original text: "Someone said, 'How about repaying grievances with virtue?' Confucius replied, 'Then how do we repay virtue? Repay grievances with integrity, and repay virtue with virtue.'" —— *The Analects, Chapter Xianwen*
Never would I have thought that after this sentence of Confucius's "repay grievances with virtue," there was another passage! What is it? Confucius said: "If we repay grievances with virtue, then how do we repay virtue? Repay grievances with integrity, and repay virtue with virtue!" After reading this, I suddenly realized that all of us have been tricked by a certain Confucius fan who took things out of context!
