In the late Ming Dynasty, there was a cheat who claimed to be the tenth grandson of Lin Hejing, a poet of the Song Dynasty. He went to the home of a historian with the surname Chen to commit fraud. The historian asked him to read Lin Hejing's biography. When he read the part that said "never married and had no children," the man was immediately speechless. Historian Chen laughed loudly and then recited a poem on the spot and gave it to him, saying: "Mr. Lin Hejing never married, how can you claim to be his descendant? Though you are like idle grass and flowers, you are certainly not a branch of plum tree from Lonely Hill." This was aimed at the cheater.
