All the eight traditional Chinese seasonal festivals are related to delicious food, and the Start of Summer is no exception. The Start of Summer is an eating festival, formerly known as "trying something new" at the start of summer. The Start of Summer usually falls in early April on the lunar calendar, when spring turns into summer, cherries become red, fresh bamboo shoots appear, and fresh fruits and vegetables begin to make their appearance so that people can feast their mouths again. In fact, in the Jiangsu-Zhejiang region, it is still customary on the day of the Start of Summer to worship gods, try something new, exchange gifts, weigh people, and cook with new tea leaves.
