In Xinjiang, many place names have the two characters "Langan". From mountain names and township names to village names and station names. According to a rough estimate, there are nearly a hundred of them. These place names are mostly distributed in the peripheral areas of the Taklimakan Desert in southern Tianshan Mountains. Among them, Kuche, Xinhe, Shaya, Baicheng, Wenxu, and Awati County in Aksu region; Jiarshi, Yuepuhu, Yingjisha, Shufu, Shache, Zeppu, Yecheng, and Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County in Kashgar region; Pishan, Moyu, Luopu, Cela, Yutian, and Minfeng County in Hotan region; Ruoqiang and Qiemo County in Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture all have a lot of place names called "Langan".
