Though a dragon lies hidden in deep water, it will eventually have its time to fly to the sky; but what hides must be a dragon, not a worm. The youth of life and people when they are not yet successful can be metaphorically described as "a hidden dragon should not act", but whether there will be a later "flying dragon in the sky" depends entirely on whether one is like a dragon or a worm during the "hidden" period. When Shun was in the "hidden dragon should not act" phase, he tilled the fields at Mount Lishan and became famous throughout the land for his great filial piety, which led to his subsequent lifelong brilliance. Therefore, during one's youth or at the beginning of one's career, one should be like Shun, a "hidden dragon", in order to lay a solid foundation for future success, and should not belittle oneself or ruin one's own future.
