I. Test-taking skills

Divided into two aspects, one is that test takers must be quite familiar with the new TOEFL test format and content. The exam has a total of four main parts.

  1. Reading: Notes can be taken during the process. There are 3 articles and 40 questions in total, to be completed within 60 minutes. These 3 articles are divided into two independently timed sections; the first part includes only 1 article with 14 questions, to be answered within 20 minutes, during which you can go back. The second part consists of the other 2 articles within 40 minutes, during which you can also return.

  2. Listening: According to ETS's introduction, the listening section should have only 2 independently timed parts, each containing 1 long conversation and 2 long lectures, with an answering time of 10 minutes for each part. However, on the day of my test, I encountered 3 independently timed parts, and later realized that one of them was a trial question, but this is not known during the actual exam. (After the listening section, test takers have a 10-minute break. I suggest bringing some food and drink.)
