Analysis of the Insert Question in the Reading Section of the New TOEFL Exam

This question type examines the reader's ability to insert a specific sentence coherently between four sequentially connected sentences in a passage. This format can be seen as an advanced development of the common domestic Cloze Test, taken to the discourse level, and thus represents a higher level of skill. To accomplish this task, the reader must have a deep understanding of the lexical, grammatical, and logical connections between each sentence. As a new question type with considerable difficulty, candidates should pay special attention to it.
