I: The Misunderstanding of Elegance and Vulgarity in Creative Themes
In some traditional themes, such as Guanyin, Buddha, Ruyi, bats, and magpies, either through homophones or symbolism, they carry connotations of peace and auspiciousness, and have consistently been favored by people. However, some consider these items too vulgar. Thus, there are also themes like playing musical instruments, board games, calligraphy, painting, pine, bamboo, and plum blossoms that appear more elegant in form. But after a period of observation, it was found that these so-called elegant themes are not very popular. I think this has to do with the consumer demographic, as well as a bias in perception. To put it plainly, the elegance or vulgarity of a theme on a pendant is greatly related to the sophistication of both the maker and the wearer.
