When a piece of jade is taken in hand, the first step is to carefully examine its characteristics, cracks, and flaws, and have a clear understanding of its good and bad parts. This process is called "inspecting jade" or "reading jade."

This is a piece of seed jade with quite a few cracks, featuring a light yellow skin, and its quality is decent. However, its value can only be realized through carving.

If it is cut along the cracks, it will become fragmented and worthless; if all the cracks are removed, it will destroy the integrity of the material shape.

There is only one solution: "borrowing"! Borrow the cracks as patterns, remove the impurities, and conceal the cracks.

By the way, in order to recreate the entire process, I removed the already drawn ink marks and started over again.
