1. Basic Jade Carving Tools
There are many types of modern jade carving tools, but they can be generally categorized into saws, materials, carving tools, polishing tools, drilling tools, and auxiliary tools.
(1) Disc Tool (Tuo)
The term "Tuo" is a very ancient name in the jade carving industry. It is interchangeable with the character "Ta". According to the dictionary, "Tuo refers to the wheel used for grinding jade," which can be made of wood, copper, but commonly made of iron. Later, it extended to encompass all tools used for cutting and carving jade, generally referred to as 'navigation' tools. In reality, modern tools have been further subdivided into various saw blades and grinding heads. These saw blades and grinding heads come in two types: those embedded with diamonds and those without diamonds. The diamonds on the saw blades or grinding heads are mostly man-made.
