The ancient ancestors of the ethnic groups living in front of Kunlun Mountain found Hetian jade during their labor. Throughout thousands of years of historical progression, methods for extracting jade evolved from simple to complex, and from easy to difficult. A single method gradually developed into multiple methods. Initially, people picked up beautiful Hetian jade stones by the riverside; later, they fished for oval-shaped "seed jade" in the rivers. They then dug out the beautiful jade from the gravel on the terraces in the river valleys, which were early river alluvial deposits. By tracing upstream along the river, they eventually discovered primary jade mines embedded in rocks. Therefore, ancient jade extraction methods included picking jade, fishing for jade, digging for jade, and attacking jade (mining jade), among others, each used for mining jade from different locations. Modern jade extraction methods have advanced significantly compared to ancient times.
