Hetian jade is produced in the Kunlun Mountain, Hetian area, Xinjiang. "Gonggong clashed with the mountain of Buzhou, and the sky tilted because of this; Nvwa then gathered the stones with five colors to mend it." The "mountain of Buzhou" mentioned here refers to the Kunlun Mountain, and the "five-color stones" refer to Hetian jade. Hetian jade has an inner luster, a body like congealed fat, and is firm, delicate, heavy, and smooth. Because of these five characteristics - dreaminess, excellence, scarcity, expensiveness, and leadership - it is considered a luxury. Since it's a luxury and the best of its kind, it's definitely something enjoyed by a few people. However, just like other branded luxury goods on the street, counterfeit items have never been far from imitation.
It's often said that the seed jade of Hetian is already exceedingly rare.
