Overview of Kunlun Mountain

The Kunlun Mountains start from the west of the Pamir Plateau. The mountain range is 2,500 kilometers long with an average elevation of 5,500-6,000 meters and a width of 130-200 kilometers. It covers a total area of more than 500,000 square kilometers, narrowing from west to east. Its highest peak, Buda Ban Feng (also known as Xin Qing Peak), lies at the boundary between Qinghai and Xinjiang, reaching an altitude of 6,860 meters, which is the highest point in Qinghai Province and serves as an important natural boundary line for regional division in Qinghai. According to legend, the immortal ruler of the Kunlun Mountains is Queen Mother of the West (Xi Wang Mu). The "Yaochi" mentioned in many ancient books refers to the Black Sea, which is the source of the Kunlun River. Located at an altitude of 4,300 meters, the lake water is clear, with flocks of birds and wild animals frequently seen, presenting magnificent scenery.
