Preface
The latest research in Chinese archaeology suggests that during the late Neolithic period, which predates China's Bronze and Iron Ages, there existed an era characterized by the extensive use of jade artifacts over thousands of years. This was, in fact, the origin era of Chinese civilization.
On this land of China, ever since the presence of human beings, jade has been an indispensable companion to them. In using jade as tools, they came to recognize its beauty, and jade thus became an ornament and treasure for beautifying life. One could say that the recognition of beauty marked the origin of human civilization.
