In 2008, affected by snowstorm, earthquake and financial crisis, Hetian jade encountered an economic cold current like other collections. It is reported that in Beijing, Hetian and Urumqi, the transaction volume of Hetian jade declined, and its price stopped rising and started to fall. It was estimated that in 2008, the transaction volume of Hetian jade fell by more than 30%, while in Xinjiang, the main producing area of Hetian jade, the transaction volume fell by nearly 50% year-on-year, and the consumer group was reduced by nearly half.
