On March 27th last year, the Beijing Organizing Committee announced that the design scheme for the appearance of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games medal would adopt the "gold inlaid jade" design plan, perfectly combining Chinese traditional culture with the Olympic spirit. On January 2nd this year, Qinghai Kunlun jade was officially determined as the jade to be used in the Beijing Olympic Games medals. During this period, from the "application" of Kunlun jade to the Olympic Games to the expert appraisal and donation stages, the leaders of the provincial Party committee and provincial government and all ethnic groups in the province made great efforts, enabling it to "reach high" and form a "golden and jade marriage" with the Beijing Olympic Games. But now, apart from us Qinghai people, how many people know that the jade inlaid on the Olympic medals is Qinghai Kunlun jade? On November 27th, Wang Jianjun, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Xining Municipal Party Committee, made important instructions regarding the cultivation and development of the Kunlun jade brand and industry. "The formation of a brand, its cultivation and promotion are very important... It is suggested that Chairman Guo Heng (of the Municipal CPPCC) continue to take the lead, in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, to organize and plan a deep and powerful series of promotions for the Kunlun jade brand in Xining, showcasing Xining's confident and open good image."
