Remember the year 92 or 93, the Shanghai blood-sucking monster incident. There are two versions of this event: one is about an old lady who caused fear in half of Shanghai during the night, and the other version is about a professor who returned from Germany to Shanghai and then started drinking human blood (according to his colleagues, he wrote a lot of "foreign language" on paper during work hours. The colleagues thought it was German teaching material, but after the incident, they found out that the text was ancient Hebrew and religious symbols, which is the origin of Western witchcraft and spiritualism). Please friends from Shanghai verify.
Regarding the rumor of zombies appearing near Chengdu's Fu River.
Excerpted from online posts,
Regarding the rumors of zombies around Chengdu's Fu River,
In the first few years after the renovation of Fu River, many people committed suicide by jumping into the river. The river water wasn't deep, nor was it fast-flowing,
but some people who accidentally fell into the water drowned. Later, there were widespread rumors in Chengdu that zombies were haunting the Fu River,
and even the TV station came out to debunk these rumors.
According to reliable internal information at the time, those who fell in weren't actually drowned. After being salvaged, severe burn marks were found on their bodies,
indicating that they had been burned to death. Relevant departments also sent people to investigate.
However, since no conclusions could be drawn, the matter was left unresolved.
"The zombie incident, it shocked all of Sichuan. I was in fifth grade at the time. It wasn't meant to scare anyone. Rumor has it that the zombies disguised as humans... rode trains everywhere... if you looked suitable, they would bite you. Every day after school, I was so afraid of encountering them." (Quoted)
The time was approximately the year 1995. At that time, I was in fourth to fifth grade. One day, a story started circulating in class:
1. The Chengdu Archaeological Team unearthed three ancient corpses near the Wu Hou Temple, from the Qing Dynasty. Due to some errors in supervision, these three ancient corpses disappeared overnight!!!! Later, five more zombies appeared, specifically biting people's heads. Those who weren't bitten to death turned into zombies. In the end, the PLA had to be mobilized, using flamethrowers to "burn" them.
2. Another version claims that the zombies originated from the Nine Elders Cave on Mount Qingcheng (which is not open to the public as a tourist attraction) and numerous white bones were found inside.
3. Yet another version suggests that they were excavated in Pixian County (a satellite city of Chengdu), with some claiming they came from Shiling (the location of the famous Sichuan Normal University, and one of Chengdu's less well-known but highly valuable cultural relics sites).
As for the handling of the zombies, one version states that the military deployed laser troops, going through great efforts and losing many lives before resolving the issue.
Even now, thinking back, it still gives me chills. I don't know why, but I always feel inexplicably scared.
I wonder if any friends from Sichuan remember this. Friends aged 17 and above should have some impression.
I remember that the first version was the closest to what happened."
