A good book is worth seeking out. The process, the feeling, is not much different from visiting a beauty. Searching high and low, wandering down winding paths, gently knocking on the door, slowly rolling up the curtain, holding your hand, growing old together, it's all exactly the same. Some might not agree, saying that there are plenty of good books in the library, you can just borrow them and take a look, why go through all the trouble? I don't think that way. Borrowing books, even the best ones, feels like being in a brothel. No matter how deep the affection, there will always be a farewell (returning the book). But books that you seek out yourself are different. You can be with them day and night, use them at any time, drink and be merry with them, or embrace them in sleep. It's a bond, an affinity. In my view, good books must be sought after. The harder they are to obtain, the more cherished they become.
