The *Three-Character Classic* is over 1000 characters in length. Since its publication in the Southern Song Dynasty, it has a history of more than 700 years and can be said to be a household name and a well-known classic. The Qian family of Wuxi has a deep-rooted academic tradition. Luminaries such as Qian Mu, Qian Weichang, Qian Zhongshu, Qian Xuesen, Qian Sanqiang, and new Nobel laureate Qian Yongjian (Qian Xuesen's cousin) have shone brightly. Qian Wenzhong, an outstanding member of the Qian family, is a professor in the History Department of Fudan University, a researcher at the East Asian Cultural Research Center of East China Normal University, a researcher at the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study of Chinese Christian Culture, and deputy director of the institute. He was a close disciple of Mr. Ji Xianlin and is one of the few scholars in China who specialize in the study of Sanskrit and Pali.
