A suspected murder case in a closed island room involves the dark history of a powerful family. The author gives it a roller-coaster pace. Just when you are completely engrossed in this seemingly unsolvable murder case, the truth suddenly emerges, making a joke out of conventional closed-room mystery novels.

Nowadays, most crime novels and films follow a pattern where the all-powerful author first decrees the death of some unfortunate victim, and then a clever detective unravels the clues to find the killer. However, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" doesn't play by these rules. It's a story that seriously questions justice. Author Stieg Larsson said that even the authority of the author should not override right and wrong. He insisted on never romanticizing crimes or criminals, nor treating victims lightly. Yet, you can still clearly feel the author's slight sigh and the weight of his thoughts.

Every character in the book has their deepest, darkest secrets, and after these secrets are revealed one by one, they are all forced to confront the darkest sides of their lives and the world.
