Recently, Sam Worthington, the male lead actor in *Avatar*, told the media that the sequel to *Avatar* is expected to officially begin filming in October 2014. This timeline has been postponed compared to the earlier revelation by Zoe Saldana, the female lead actress, who mentioned that filming would start at the beginning of 2014.
According to the creative plan previously disclosed by 20th Century Fox, *Avatar* will be developed into a classic four-part series. James Cameron has almost completed the scriptwriting for the second installment. If everything goes smoothly, the film will be released in 2016, with the third and fourth parts of the series following in the subsequent two years.
It was introduced that *Avatar 2* plans to use the same 48-frame shooting technology as *The Hobbit*. In addition to the return of many old characters, due to Chinese investment in the film, there will also be appearances by Chinese actors. However, the specific cast lineup remains unclear at this point.
