Today, after the market for connected banknotes has developed to this point, the long-slumbering Hong Kong and Macao Olympic banknote series has finally awakened, embarking on a long journey of value reversion. A 20% increase in just one month indicates that these previously sleeping horses have begun to gallop! Various types of Hong Kong and Macao single notes, four-connections, and "cannons" are being bought and sold enthusiastically online. But amidst this bustling market, have you noticed that there is still one true thousand-li horse that remains asleep?
That is what I want to talk about today: The dark horse on the floor, the gold coin in the sandpile - Eight Faces Glittering!
Perhaps, you won't believe me and might say, "Another braggart, how can this be considered a thousand-li horse?" If you think this way, you would be making a big mistake. Because ignorance is more terrible than prejudice! The reasons why I am optimistic about Eight Faces Glittering come from several characteristics that make it a true thousand-li horse:
1. An exceptionally small issuance volume. As everyone knows, Eight Faces was the first variety in the Hong Kong and Macao Olympic banknote series whose official issuance volume was announced - 30,000 sets. This gives Eight Faces an inherent pure-blooded thousand-li horse lineage.
2. An exceptionally large consumption volume and an exceptionally small surviving quantity. During the days when Hong Kong banknotes were discounted, everyone knew that cannons had been cut, but Eight Faces may have been cut even more! Because Hong Kong four-connections have always been more expensive than Macao four-connections, and Eight Faces Glittering was relatively unknown, so coin dealers across the country dismantled Eight Faces to sell them as individual notes. Due to the higher price of Hong Kong four-connections, they might have been preserved, while most Macao four-connections were cut into single notes. If you ask any coin dealer in the postal market, they might have done such things. Moreover, because Eight Faces has been inexpensive for a long time, it has also been one of the main gifts consumed, resulting in its current surviving quantity being less than 20,000 sets! You can hardly find 5,000 sets in the entire market! This is the second thousand-li horse lineage of Eight Faces - an exceptionally small surviving quantity.
3. Irreplicable uniqueness. Many people think that if the price of Eight Faces rises, people might cut cannons to make them. However, this is fundamentally impossible! First, you would need to find two barrels of Hong Kong and Macao cannons with identical serial numbers, but the question is: would you cut something so hard to find? Second, Eight Faces has its special number zone, which no other variety can replicate! Just like EE8050 cannot replace ordinary 8050. This is the third thousand-li horse lineage of Eight Faces - forever irreplicable.
4. Unparalleled advantage. Any rise in any variety of the Hong Kong and Macao series will drive up Eight Faces, but Eight Faces can stand independently. Why do I say this? Because Eight Faces contains a pair of fully identical Hong Kong and Macao four-connections. Eight Faces can be made into any variety except cannons, including hand-in-hand ones! But no other variety can be made into Eight Faces. This is the fourth thousand-li horse lineage of Eight Faces.
5. Eternal leader, possibly a once-in-a-lifetime leader. Why do I say this? Everyone knows that Eight Faces was born for the 2008 Olympics. Apart from the Olympics, it is unlikely that there will be another event significant enough for the authorities to issue a set of same-numbered four-connected banknotes linking Hong Kong and Macao, and use the BJ prefix (capital prefix). This is China's first and possibly last time! Especially the BJ-prefixed Eight Faces (which I call Eight Faces Jingguan), with the same prefix and fully identical numbers, symbolizing the close unity of the two regions around the motherland, holds great significance. This is the fifth thousand-li horse lineage of Eight Faces.
6. Mainstream variety, gift favorite. In my view, Eight Faces is extremely suitable as a gift. Its three prefixes can respectively be called Eight Faces Jingguan (BJ prefix), Eight Faces Gang'ao Guan (HK/MO), and Eight Faces Puguan (AA/CN). You can imagine, which official doesn't wish to be eight-sided and radiant? Therefore, there is no better high-end gift than this. This is the sixth thousand-li horse lineage of Eight Faces.
